A Wise Path,
Rooted in the Land.

Camp Baer is a residential recovery campus in the Appalachian forests of West Virginia. We offer a dignified, wilderness-inspired path for adults rebuilding a life after substance use - one that treats restoration as a season of growth rather than a problem to be fixed.

What happens here is simple to describe and slow to practice. Guests live on the campus for an extended stay, days structured around clinical care, honest work, shared meals, and time outdoors. There is no rushing the seasons, and no shortcut through them. The work of recovery joins the rhythm of the mountains: thaw, flow, harvest, and the long sweetness of the sugarbush.

Families are part of the journey too. We keep the people who love our guests informed, involved, and never left guessing - because recovery holds better when it is held by more than one person.

The Grounded Recovery Model

Our seasons - The Thaw, The Flow, The Harvest, and The Sugarbush - shape a year of restoration rather than a sprint toward discharge. Progress moves at the pace of the land around us.

Who Comes to Camp Baer

Adults who are ready to step away from crisis and into steady care, and the families who walk beside them. Guests arrive from across the country for our residential program in the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia.

Who Builds It

Camp Baer is built by the Wise Path team: clinicians, recovery guides, and land stewards who live and work in these mountains. Every member of the care team is part of the daily life of the campus, not a name on a chart.
