A Family Boundary Map

A worksheet for setting clear, kind boundaries with a loved one in early recovery.

A boundary is not a punishment. It is a clear agreement about what you will do, said in advance and kept with kindness. This sheet helps you set one.

Name the line. Decide the one behavior you can not live around - and phrase it as what you will do, not what they must stop. For example: I will not lend money, even once, while you are using.

Name the consequence. The consequence is your action, not their punishment. State it plainly and without threat: if that happens, I will end the visit and we will try again another day. Keep it small enough to actually keep.

Name the support. Tell one trusted person the boundary before you need to hold it. You will waver; they will not. Boundaries held alone tend to bend; boundaries held with a witness hold.

Your next step starts with one call.

Recovery is a practice, not a destination - and you do not have to build it alone. Whether you are ready to begin admissions or simply have a question, our team is here 24 hours a day. No pressure, no judgment, only a conversation about what you need.
